Muktsar, May 16

Sukhbir Singh Badal, SAD chief, is contesting election from the Ferozepur constituency, but focusing mainly on forming the state government in 2022. Even on the penultimate day of the campaigning, in his public speech he laid stress on forming the state government and not just reminded people of the development works done during the previous SAD-BJP government, but also promised to complete some pending jobs.

In his public address in Muktsar today, Sukhbir said, “After forming the government, I will sanction grants for the development of villages and make every single kutcha house pucca in the state. I will sanction Rs 400-500 crore for the development of Muktsar in the first week and handover a cheque to Rozy Barkandi.” He promised public that the problems related to sewerage, drainage and streetlights would be solved.

In his address, he did not even once ask the public to vote for him. Neither he targeted his rival Congress candidate Sher Singh Ghubaya, nor announced that what he would do if elected as an MP.

He, however, appealed to the gathering to make Narendra Modi Prime Minister of the country again. “Modi ji and Rahul Gandhi has no comparison. Modi has vast experience of running a state. He made Gujarat a developed state and developed relations with other countries being the PM. Whereas Rahul Gandhi is still known as Pappu.”

He told the gathering that Modi had done a number of works for the Sikh community, like decision on opening the Kartarpur corridor, sanctioning huge money for the 550th birthday celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev, forming SIT and reopening cases related to anti-Sikh riots.

Sukhbir accused CM Capt Amarinder Singh of supporting Bargari Morcha people. “Those who show black flags to us and lodge protests are working for the Congress. They are doing all this for money. Further, Amarinder is supporting them in their cause of Khalistan,” he said.
