Association seeks release of pending allowances

Accusing the state government of not fulfilling their demands, members of the Pensioners Welfare Association staged a protest here on Tuesday.

Flaying the government, Surjit Singh Goraya, president of the association, demanded that the remaining amount of pension for the past 22 months and instalments of dearness allowance (DA) for the past two years must be released immediately.

He said the medical allowance be raised to Rs2,000 per monthly. Besides, he added that the Sixth Pay Commission be implemented.

Other members of the association Sukhdev Singh Pannu, Narinder Sharma, Sukhninder Singh and Shiv Kumar were also present on the occasion. — TNS
