With the Haryana Assembly elections approaching, development works in Ambala have picked up pace. Both Ambala Cantonment and Ambala City Assembly constituencies are represented by the ruling BJP and both MLAs Assem Goel and Anil Vij (Health and Sports Minister) are making all-out efforts to ensure the completion of all ongoing development projects before the announcement of the model code of conduct for the forthcoming elections.

Goel says that projects to the tune of Rs 200 crore are in the advanced stage of completion. The major projects include a 300-bed Civil Hospital (Rs 64.71 crore), Mini-Secretariat (Rs 78.45 crore), Inter-State Bus Terminus (Rs 18 crore), Mahavira Park (Rs 8 crore), Bal Bhawan (Rs 10 crore), Naurangrai Talab (Rs 12 crore) and a new ITI to be constructed at a cost of Rs 8 crore.

Goel says that the new Civil Hospital will have a four-storied building, and will be equipped with ultra-modern facilities for patients, attendants and doctors.

He says that the new Mini-Secretariat will bring all offices of the district administration and various government departments in Ambala City under one roof. The new ISBT, which is one of the oldest demands of the city, will be made operational this month, he adds.

Goel says that the Mahavira Park is being given a new look and provided with all recreational facilities for children, women and elders. Similarly, the Naurangrai Talab is being developed as a water body and a tourist spot. The new ITI will offer two new courses from this academic session, he adds.
