Army man booked on rape charge

On a complaint filed by a woman police constable, Preeti, a resident of Goraya, the police have registered a case against an Army personnel, Mandip Kumar of Jalandhar, on the charges of repeatedly raping her and duping her of Rs 12 lakh on the pretext of marriage.

She said she got in touch with him two years ago and they started living together then, adding that he sought Rs 12 lakh to purchase a car. She handed over the money to him. Later, he refused to marry her. — OC
