Faridkot, January 15

The School Education Department on Tuesday issued fresh guidelines for two-year extension in service to employees after retirement. The interested employees will have to submit their application online.

The decision has been taken after the department received complaints, alleging lack of transparency in the process of granting extension in service. The applicants had been alleging that they were not getting approval despite making rounds of offices to pursue their application.

The department has now decided to simplify the process by making it online. The applications for extension in service will be decided in an expeditious mode, said Krishan Kumar, Secretary, School Education.

All employees in the department would be eligible for extension after the age of 58 years.

According to the guidelines, the extension would be denied to those employees who have been either chargesheeted or likely to be chargesheeted under rule 8 of Punjab Civil Services (Punishment and Appeal) Act, 1970.
