Amritsar, December 15

Another case of firing was reported in the city, this time in the Ranjhe Di Haveli area, falling under Division B police station.

Though the incident occurred on November 29, a case was registered on Friday after efforts to reach a compromise yielded no results. Later, a complaint was filed by Sukhdev Singh, alias Sonu, of Ranjhe Di Haveli.

Those booked were identified as Amolak Singh, alias Heera, student of a private engineering college and resident of the same locality, and his friend Monty of the Khandwala area. A case under Sections 336 and 34 of the IPC added with Sections 25, 27, 54, 59A of the Arms Act has been registered against them.

Sukhdev Singh told the police that on November 29, around 7 pm, he was standing outside his house when the accused fired two gunshots in the air to intimidate them. He said he earlier had a dispute with the accused over burning crackers on Diwali. He said at that time, the people of the area struck a compromise between them.

Sub-Inspector Bhupinder Singh, in charge, Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar police chowki, said raids were underway to arrest the accused.
