Lucknow, February 15

The Aligarh Muslim University authorities have suspended a Kashmiri student for posting a controversial tweet in support of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), which claimed responsibility for the Pulwama attack.

“How is the Jaish? Great Sir,” was the offensive tweet posted from the Twitter handle of Basim Hilal, a student of mathematics at AMU. Aligarh SSP Akash Kulhary said the district cyber monitoring cell found the comment from a Twitter ID and alerted security agencies. A case has been registered against Hilal at the Civil Lines police station under Section 67A, IT Act, and Section 153A of the IPC, said the SSP.

He said after the tweet, the ID had been deleted and the probe was on. The police have also asked the university authorities to initiate disciplinary action against him.— TNS
