After Punjabi singer actor Diljit Dosanjh, another artiste is set to share the spotlight on Bollywood’s stage. Ammy Virk, the singer actor, who recently tasted success with Punjabi film ‘Qismat’, will be seen in the role of pacer Balwinder Singh Sandhu in Kabir Khan’s world cup biopic ‘83’.
Film stars Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev and Virk did not contain his excitement while announcing his Bollywood debut on the social media.
“It is indeed a big opportunity for me and I hope that I do justice to the role offered to me,” shared the artiste, who was performing in the Basant concert in the holy city, organised under HRIDY.
The talented singer, who has proved his acting prowess with successful films like ‘Bambookat’ and ‘Qismat’, shared that he wanted to graduate as an actor by doing a film in Bollywood. “Like every actor, I too feel working in Bollywood gets you to larger audience,” he said.
While Virk is ready to explore himself in Bollywood, he said that as far Punjabi movie audience was concerned, the unpredictability over content limits the possibilities of artistes.
“You do not know what the audience will like. For instance, my film ‘Harjeeta’, that was a biopic on hockey player Harjeet Singh did click with the audience. ‘Qismat’, which was a serious love story did well,” he added.
With his eyes now set on tasting successful, Virk hopes that more Punjabi talent gets noticed in Bollywood.
