The administration of Ambedkar University today reinstated all 52 contractual employees who were ousted on May 31. The contract with Bhagwati International has been terminated and all employees will now work under the university administration.

Labour Minister Gopal Rai, who had a meeting with Safai Kamgar Union yesterday, visited the campus today and took up the ousted employees’ issues with the university administration. He asked the administration to remove the contractor and directly employ the contractual workers.

The university promised to give the contractual employees PF and ESI, which had been their demand for long.

The administration will also constitute a committee to look into the complaints against the sanitation workers.

It promised to provide a separate room to women sanitation staff on all three campuses. The Deputy Registrar, who was accused of misbehaving with some sanitation workers, was removed from the estate division which carries out the maintenance of all infrastructure and facilities including the buildings, roads, lawns, housekeeping and sanitation services.
