Ambala has third highest transgender voters in state

This Lok Sabha constituency has 30 transgender voters, the third highest in the state after Faridabad (37) and Gurugram (35).

According to the final voters’ list released here today, Ambala has a total of 18,53,577 electors, including 9,90,603 male, 8,62,944 female and 30 transgender. The number of electorate here is the fourth highest in the state after Gurugram (21,50,668), Faridabad (20,71,851) and 19,04,193 in the Karnal parliamentary constituency.

Besides, 11 women are in the fray for the 10 Lok Sabha seats in the state and one of them is contesting the Ambala seat.

Rajya Sabha MP Kumari Selja, who had represented the constituency in Lok Sabha twice besides remaining Sirsa MP twice, is one of the two women candidates fielded by the Congress in the state. The other Congress nominee is former MP Shruti Choudhry, daughter of CLP leader Kiran Choudhry, from the Bhiwani-Mahendragarh constituency.

As many as 18 candidates are vying for the Ambala seat. As many as 2,045 polling stations have been set up in the constituency where polling is scheduled to be held on May 12.
