The Chief Ministers of Punjab and Haryana have expressed their grief over the demise of former Finance Minister and senior BJP leader Arun Jaitely, who passed away after prolonged illness at the AIIMS in the national capital on Saturday.

"Sad to hear that former Union Minister Arun Jaitley ji has passed away. My thoughts are with his family in this time of grief. May his soul rest in peace," Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh tweeted.

His counterpart in Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar, said the death of Jaitley was an irreparable loss to the BJP and Indian politics.

"He has left an indelible mark in Indian politics as an ardent speaker, an ideal activist and popular public representative. His departure has left a huge vacuum in the Indian politics, which will not be filled for a long time," Khattar tweeted. — IANS
