CM mourns passing away of ex-MLA and CPI(M) leader Balwant Singh

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Thursday expressed grief over the sad demise of former MLA and ex-state secretary of CPI(M) Prof Balwant Singh (82), who passed away here at his residence this morning after a brief illness.

Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Thursday expressed grief over the sad demise of former MLA and ex-state secretary of CPI(M) Prof Balwant Singh (82), who passed away here at his residence this morning after a brief illness.

In his condolence message, the chief minister described Prof Balwant Singh as leader of masses, who worked relentlessly throughout his life for the cause of disadvantaged sections of the society especially to safeguard the interests of industrial workers.

Sharing his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family, relatives and friends, the chief minister prayed to the almighty to give strength to them to bear this irreparable loss and eternal peace to the departed soul.
