Agri Secy visits Lalru villages, inspects crops

Abhilash Likhi, Joint Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, today visited Tiwana and Sarsini villages in Lalru and interacted with farmers. He took feedback on the centrally-sponsorship schemes.

He inspected the fields and listened to grievances of farmers while motivating them about integrated farming and crop diversification. He stressed on the adoption of drip or sprinkle irrigation. He also took feedback on the availability of fertilisers and other requirements such as water and power. He also enquired about the problems faced by them with regard to crushing of sugarcane and realisation of dues. Likhi directed officials to speed up issue of soil health cards.

While speaking to The Tribune, Likhi said the purpose of his visit was to educate farmers about various schemes of the government. He stressed on the need for liaison between farmers and officials of various for availing benefits of government schemes.
