Admn reviews security of students outside Valley

Adviser to the Governor Khurshid Ahmed Ganai on Sunday reviewed the security of J&K students studying in different colleges and universities outside the state with Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan.

An official statement said the Divisional Commissioner informed the Adviser that he was in constant touch with the authorities in different states who had assured of providing an adequate security to the students. He was also informed that helplines had been set up to register the queries of the students and parents and for providing the response in real time.

The Adviser was briefed about the work being done by the liaison officers appointed for the purpose in various cities in the country under the overall supervision of the Principal Resident Commissioner, J&K, located in New Delhi.

Ganai said Governor Satya Pal Malik was monitoring the work of the liaison officers in various states and also enquiring about the welfare of the students. He said the Governor had given clear directions to the Principal Resident Commissioner to take an immediate cognisance of any complaint received from the students and take prompt action by informing the authorities concerned in those states.

Meanwhile, panic gripped students of Kashmir studying in various parts of the country after some violent groups attacked them in Dehradun and Ambala. The state administration reviewed the security of students on Sunday and ensured their safety.

A group of students from Ambala said they were attacked on Friday following the suicide attack on a CRPF convoy in Pulwama.
