The district administration on Wednesday held a meeting with members of the Kisan Sangarsh Committee (KSC) and assured them that their issues would be resolved soon.
District heads of various departments were present in the meeting. The government had called the meeting to end two-day protest by farmer organisations.
Sarwan Singh Pandher, a farmer leader, said, they were demanding curb on the sale of adulterated milk so that dairy farmers could get right price of their produce. The district administration said raids were being conducted and 70 samples were collected. Of these, 28 samples had failed the test and action would be taken against the offenders as per law. While the drive against sale of adulterated milk and milk products will continue.
Officials of the Social Security Department assured members of the farmers’ delegation that their other issues like old-age pension and supply of pulses under Atta-Dal Scheme would be redressed soon.
District administration officials said they would issue notices to officials of the Agriculture and Health Departments who did not turn up in the meeting.
