A man addicted to drugs hit her wife with a sickle (datar) after the latter refused to give him money to buy liquor in Ramdas area. The victim has been identified as Rupinder Kaur, who is married to Harjeet Singh, a resident of Darya Musa village.

The victim, who sustained injuries, said, “On Monday night, my husband demanded money from me to buy liquor. I denied it at that moment and assured him of arranging the money in the next morning. Thereafter, I went to my bed, but he attacked me with a sickle.”

The victim is undergoing treatment at Guru Ramdas Institute for Medical Sciences. Sub-Inspector Dhanvinder Singh the suspect was addicted to drugs and absconding after the incident. A case under Section 324 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the suspect.
