Sonepat, November 13

Senior INLD leader Ajay Chautala has questioned the authority of those who had termed the meeting of the party’s office-bearers at Jind on November 17 as illegal and unconstitutional.

Interacting with mediapersons here on Tuesday, Ajay said, “Such leaders do not have any authority to question my decision as I am the secretary general of the party and authorised to convene such meetings.”

“I am going to Chandigarh today to meet former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and other senior leaders to discuss the matter with them,” he said and hoped that it might help in minimising the bitterness brewing among the family members.

On reports that efforts were being made to project his mother as the next CM candidate, Ajay said she was a non-political woman. “If it is like this, there is no dispute,” he added.

To a question, Ajay said the final decision in the matter would be taken in the November 17 meeting in Jind. — OC
