Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) activists on Monday staged a protest near the official residence of Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation (MC) and criticised the local body for its failure to repair and reopen the stretch of Mall road which had been washed away more than four months ago.

Ashok Talwar, president of the district urban unit of the Aam Aadmi Party, said, “The government should have conducted an inquiry as to why the road was washed away. The authorities have proved their own failure by not being able to reopen the road. The residents are face commuting problems due to the closed stretch.”

He also criticised the Municipal Corporation for its alleged failure to check rampant encroachments in the city. “The elected councillors of the MC appear to have not worked at all except for presiding over functions and getting honoured,” he quipped, adding that the MC should focus on bettering the infrastructure of the city for the residents.
