Prominent amateur singers of the region paid rich musical tributes to the legendary Bollywood playback singer Mukesh in the 30th annual edition of specially designed musical bonanza ‘Mukesh ki yaadein’ at Tagore Theatre here today.

Designed and directed by Harkesh Thakur for Pancham Musical Club, supported by Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi and Central Bank of India among others, the programme featured over 15 singers from different segments of life, who kept the interest of audience alive.

Having close resemblance of voice with the legend, Harkesh Thakur doled out maximum songs of opening up with ‘Jot se jot’, ‘Mere mann ki Ganga’, ‘Jeena yahan’, ‘Kabhi kabhi mere dil mein’, ‘Mujh ko iss raat ki’ and many more.

Similarly, scintillating spells came from a former super cop Rajbir Deswal in ‘Tumhari bhi jai jai’, Dr Arun Kant in ‘Ye mera deewanapan hai’ and Dr Anil Sharma in two songs he presented. However, Sanjeev Mago weaved emotions of lament and unrequited love in ‘Jaane kahan gye who din’.

Besides Amit Rana, Japreet Jassal, Shweta Dhillon, Sakshi Thakur, Raj Maanta, Anurag, Viranci Kaushik, deepti,Sanjay Khanna, Chahat and others presented solo and duet songs. Punita Bawa anchored the programme with brilliance.

Chief guest Deepinder Singh Dhillon, Shashank Anand , SSP Traffic (UT), Kamal Arora, chairman, CSNA, and other dignitaries were also present at the function.
