Amritsar, October 18

The Health Department has reported a total of 80 dengue cases in the district so far. Though the figure is more than that of the last year (15 cases till October 15, 2017), it is quite less than the figure of 2016 when 300 patients were reported in the same period.

Health officials said that even this year, the number of patients reported from the district is less in comparison to other districts. “In some districts, the patient count has crossed 1,000. We are keeping a vigil and the results have been encouraging,” said District Epidemiologist Dr Madan Mohan.

He said efforts to create awareness regarding the disease were started in advance. “Thankfully, the proactive approach has delivered results. We hope the scenario will not witness a drastic change as the dengue season will end in 10-15 days with a further dip in temperature,” said Dr Madan Mohan.
