Truck driver Jagdish Singh and cleaner Avtar Singh of Samana Mandi (Patiala) were arrested with 38-kg poppy husk, which was concealed under bags of pulses in the vehicle yesterday. The truck was uploaded for Patiala at Indore in Madhya Pradesh.
The Rajasthan police also seized 24-kg poppy husk by intercepting a motorcycle on the Suratgarh road. Lakhwinder Singh Lakha and Mangat Singh of Miani Basti, Fazilka, were arrested under the NDPS Act.
Bhim Sain of Dhaba village was nabbed with 1-kg poppy husk. Resham Singh Saini of Talwara Jheel was nabbed with 4-gm heroin in Hanumangarh.
The Abohar police seized 670 sedative tablets by intercepting Arpinder Singh Bhinda of Khuikhera Rukanpura, Jagmeet Singh and Manga Singh of Kandhwala Amarkot village on Saturday.
The police also seized 780 bottles of Haryana-made liquor in a raid near Subhash Nagar, but none could be arrested. Nirmal Singh of Himmatpura village was nabbed with 192 small packs of smuggled liquor.
