Around 79 per cent of 2.34 lakh voters on Monday exercised their franchise in Ramgarh assembly poll that ended on a very peaceful note.
"It was an incident free and fair poll in Ramgarh," Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order) M L Lather told The Tribune.
Fate of 20 contestants, including Congress' Safia Khan, relative of former MLA Juber Khan; BJP's Sukhawant Singh and BSP's Jagat Singh, two-time MLA and son of former external affairs minister Natwar Singh, was sealed in the EVMs.
In last 2013 assembly poll on this seat, the poll percentage was 79.92.
The Election Commission had to postpone the poll in Ramgarh following the death of BSP candidate Laxman Choudhary on November 29 last. Elections on 199 assembly constituencies were held on December 7. The Congress has won 99, BJP 73, BSP 6, RLP 3, CPI-M 2, RLD 1, others 15.
The counting will take place on January 31.
