7 die in Bihar’s van-truck collision

PATNA: Seven persons were killed and nine injured when a speeding truck collided head-on with a pick-up van near Nizampur village in Siwan district of Bihar today.

Seven persons were killed and nine injured when a speeding truck collided head-on with a pick-up van near Nizampur village in Siwan district of Bihar today. All the seven persons died on the spot, the police said. The critically injured were rushed to Patna Medical College and Hospital while the bodies were sent to Siwan Sadar Hospital for postmortem.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Kantesh Kumar Mishra said: “Seven persons, including a child, were killed and nine others injured when a speeding truck collided with a pick-up van returning from a marriage party. The deceased were resident of Baba Ke Pateji village in Siwan district. An ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh will be given to the next kin of each deceased.”

The truck driver fled the scene after the accident, Mishra added.
