680 cartons of liquor seized, 1 held

Jalandhar, January 21

Police personnel at the CIA staff Police Commissionerate today arrested a person for reportedly supplying illicit liquor. The police seized 680 cartons of liquor.

After getting a tip-off, the police arrested him from a check post near Reru village. He was supplying 60 cartons of liquor in his car (bearing registration No. PB36D 4888).

The suspect, Puneet Singh Sodhi, a resident of Arjun Nagar, said he had bought the liquor from a godown near Chandandevi Hospital, Pathankot road, and the cartons were kept for sale in Arunanchal Pradesh. After raiding the godown, 620 cartons of various brands were also seized. A case under the Excise Act has been registered. — TNS
