A high level meeting of the committee formed under three ministers to ensure grand celebrations of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak was held here today.
Cooperation Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Tourism & Cultural Affairs Minister Charanjit Singh Channi took stock of the preparations.
Addressing the mediapersons, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Charanjit Singh Channi said a circle style kabaddi cup of international and state level dedicated to the Parkash Purb would be held. They said teams from various countries would be invited for participation in the international tournament.
They said a National Institute of Interfaith Studies would also come up at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, at a cost of Rs 482 crore. The work was in the final stages. They said the admission process for 2019-20 at newly constructed Bebe Nanki Girls College at Sultanpur Lodhi had begun.
The government had started development works with Rs 1 crore each in all 70 villages where Guru Nanak Dev visited during his lifetime, they added.
These development works would be completed by September 30. It was also informed during the meeting that the drive to plant 550 plants in each village was at full swing as 31 lakh saplings had already been planted till date.
