500 residents participate in Ambala City cyclothon

A cyclothon event, “Saksham Pedal India”, was organised in Ambala City on Sunday. The 5-km rally was organised by Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd and supported by Petroleum Conservation and Research Association (PCRA) and Ambala Club.

 The event was inaugurated and flagged off by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Chander Mohan from Ambala Club, who himself participated in the cycle rally. Over 500 cyclists participated in the rally.

 Speaking on the occasion, the ASP said, “Benefits of cycling are not limited to protecting environment or fuel conservation, but also carry health and fitness dividends.” 

“Judicious use of various forms of energy and its conservation is a matter of vital importance for all of us for the betterment of our society and healthy environment,” he added.

 Vipin Das Vanswal, territory manager (Retail), BPCL, Ambala, said, “Conservation is a collective responsibility of all of us. All citizens should come together and work for building a nation that is green, environmentally clean and pollution free.” 

Ambala was one of the 200 cities selected across India for the mega awareness campaign.
