Mansa, October 18

Around 50 playgrounds will be set up in Mansa under the Punjab Tandarust Mission. The move is aimed at improving the health of people and attracting youngsters towards sports activities.

This was stated on Thursday by Mansa Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait while presiding over a meeting of departments carrying out activities under the Punjab Tandarust Mission.

Speaking on the occasion, she directed the Panchayat Department to identify 30 places in every block to set up 150 parks in the district. “Try to find these places close to primary, middle and senior secondary schools where playgrounds will soon be set up under MGNREGA to attract youngsters towards a healthier way of living,” she said.

To check the rising presence of stray animals on roads, she directed officials of the Dairy Department to keep a random check over the number of animals in cowsheds during the start and end of every month. In this way, people letting loose their animals on roads after milking can be taken to task.

In view of the festival season, DC Apneet Riyait asked the Dairy, Health and Food Safety Departments to jointly conduct checking of milk and its products by conducting raids.

Officials of the Food Safety Department informed that they took samples of 28 milk sellers recently and the milk they were selling was found to be substandard.

The DC asked officials of the Health and Food Safety Department to accelerate inspection of milk samples.
