A five-day-long course on safety of women for investigators of the Jammu and Kashmir Police concluded on Friday at Sher-I-Kashmir Police Academy, Udhampur.

The course was sponsored by the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), MHA, GOI, New Delhi. The objective of the course was to build the capacity of investigators in investigation of crime against women in professional and scientific way by the use of Sexual Assault Evidence Collection Kit (SAECK) issued by the BPR&D, New Delhi.

As many as 24 officers from different wings of the Jammu and Kashmir police attended the course. The course was validated by Dr SD Singh Jamwal, IGP, Director, Sher-I-Kashmir Police Academy, Udhampur.

While dealing with the investigation of crime against women, he told the officers to deal with the cases sensitively and apply scientific method and SAECK in the investigation. During the course, eminent professionals from the field of law, forensics, investigations and medicines were invited.

To give first-hand knowledge in the use of SAECK as well as the simulation of the crime scene investigation, scientific officer (retd) Rohit Koul and Jagpal Sharma, Inspector (fingerprint expert), held five sessions.
