The Khanna police have arrested a person and recovered a huge quantity of charas from him. The accused Ramesh Yadav is a resident of Pathara village, Bihar. SSP Khanna said a police party led by SHO Sadar Khanna Baljinder Singh was present near the service lane at Bhadla Chowk, GT Road, Khanna, for checking suspected vehicles/persons. While checking, they saw a person coming from Gobindgarh side. After seeing the police, he tried to return, but on suspicion, he was stopped for checking. On searching his bag, the police recovered 5.50 kg charas from him. A case under Section 20/61/85 of the NDPS Act was registered after arresting the accused.
In another incident, a police party asked a suspicious person to stop for checking near a brick kiln near Nasrali village. After seeing the police, he diverted his way. During questioning, he was identified as Jagdeep Singh of Shahkot, Jalandhar. Nearly 4,000 tablets of Alprasafe (intoxicants) were recovered from him. A case was registered.
