40-year-old swine flu patient dies

PATIALA: A 40-year-old woman, who tested positive for swine flu and was admitted at Rajindra Hospital in Patiala, died on Tuesday.

A 40-year-old woman, who tested positive for swine flu and was admitted at Rajindra Hospital in Patiala, died on Tuesday. The deceased belonged to Mansa district. This was the first death due to swine flu this season in the state. The woman was admitted to the hospital on Friday after her health had deteriorated. Following the death, the state health authorities have put all government hospitals on alert. The woman tested positive for the disease on Monday.

State Nodal officer Dr Gagan Grover said, “Though she was a swine flu patient, the exact cause of her death can be ascertained only after going through her medical records.” The department, meanwhile, claimed that all precautionary measures had been taken. — TNS
