The police have booked a woman, her daughter and an old person for abetment to suicide after a 40-year-old man committed suicide by consuming poison.

The police said the deceased had been identified as Sukhchain Singh of Achal village, who allegedly committed suicide on Monday.

A case was registered on the complaint of Balkar Singh of Achal village, who claimed that his uncle Sukhchain was assaulted and insulted by his wife and her paramour on Sunday while he had gone to convince her to come back.

The police said the suspects had been identified as Karnail Kaur, her mother Amarjit Kaur, and her paramour Des Raj.

The police have booked the suspects under Section 306 and 34, IPC, in this connection.

Complainant Balkar Singh stated that his uncle Sukhchain was married to Karnail Kaur and had five children, including four girls and a boy, from the wed lock.

Sukhchain’s mother-in-law had taken a loan from Des Raj around 18 years ago to marry her daughter Karnail Kaur to his uncle Sukhchain, but she failed to repay it, he added.

The Station House Officer (SHO), Sadar Nabha police station, said the suspects had been booked, but were yet to be arrested.
