More than 40 vehicles, including buses and cars, piled up on Sunday morning in heavy fog on NH 52 in Sikar district, leaving at least 25 people injured.

Five ambulances were called to take the injured to nearby hospitals where from one was referred to the Jaipur's SMS hospital and four to Sikar government hospital, Khatushyamji SHO Surendra Kumar Saini said.

First mishap occurred between a bus and car at Palsana in Ranoli Thana area followed by several vehicles colliding around 7:45 am, the SHO said.

Many vehicles were overloaded, carrying students for Lab Assistant examination in Jaipur. They ran helter and skelter to find alternative transportation despite suffering minor injuries, Ranoli SHO Mahendra Singh said.

SP Aman Deep Singh said no case was so far registered and the route was cleared by deploying cranes in the afternoon after the fog cleared. The road traffic was badly hit on Jaipur-Sikar-Bikaner route due to fog and multiple mishaps since morning, he said.
