33-year-old man commits suicide

Rajpreet Singh, a 33-year-old resident of Mohalla Tibba Sahib, committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree near Bhangi choe.

The incident came to the fore late this evening when people became suspicious after seeing a motorcycle parked for long on the bank of the choe. When they went near it, they saw the man’s body hanging from the tree. Afterwards, they informed the Model Town police about the incident.

After getting information, the police reached the spot. The victim was identified as Rajpreet Singh, a resident of Tibba Sahib, with the help of documents recovered from his pockets.

The body was sent to the local Civil Hospital for autopsy.

SHO Bharat Masih said since Rajpreet’s grandfather died three days ago and the former was disturbed due to the same. The police would also talk to the victim’s family, his wife and residents of the area during investigation. The post-mortem examination would be done tomorrow.
