3 lives snuffed out in road mishap

Three persons were killed in a road mishap involving two vehicles and a bike near Bhagi Wander village on Friday night.

The deceased have been identified as Tarsem Kumar (55) and his son Muku Garg (21), both residents of an area near the vegetable market, and Gura Singh (58), a resident of Bhagi Wander village.

According to information, Tarsem and his son Mukul were returning to Bathinda from Rama Mandi on their Swift Dzire car bearing number PB 03 AG 5357.

When they crossed Bhagi Wander village, a rashly driven SUV came from the rear and rammed into Gura’s bike and the Swift Dzire car, leaving them injured.

The accident was so severe that all vehicles, including the bike, got damaged. Hearing the screams, people from nearby houses gathered on the spot.

They took them out of the badly damaged vehicles. Thereafter, they were taken to the hospital. But Tarsem, Mukul and Gora Singh died on the way to the hospital.

Deceased Tarsem Kumar and Mukal Garg body were taken to civil hospital, Bathinda, while dead body of Gora Singh was taken to civil hospital, Talwandi Sabo.

On a complaint of Sandeep Kumar Garg, son of Tarsem Kumar, and Baljit Singh, son of Gora Singh, a case under Sections 427, 338, 337, 279 and 304-A of the IPC has been registered against the driver of the SUV at the Talwandi Sabo police station. The accused is yet to be identified.

The bodies have been handed over to family members after conducting their postmortems.

It is learnt that apart from the driver, a woman and three kids were travelling in the SUV and they have also received injuries in this incident. According to information, they went to the Talwandi Sabo Civil Hospital, but immediately they left after taking first aid.

Police officer Amrik Singh said they had registered a case and had impounded all three vehicles. A probe into the incident is on.
