3 Jharkhand natives held with 42 mobiles

LUDHIANA: The police have busted a gang of robbers and thieves being run by Jharkhand-based youths with the arrest of three of its members. The police have recovered 42 stolen mobile phones from their possession.

The police have busted a gang of robbers and thieves being run by Jharkhand-based youths with the arrest of three of its members. The police have recovered 42 stolen mobile phones from their possession.

Additional DCP-1 Gurpreet Singh Sikand, ACP-North Lakhvir Singh Tiwana and Inspector Vijay Kumar, Salem Tabri SHO, conducted a press conference on Thursday.

The accused have been identified as Shiv Kumar Mahato (23), Dev Kumar (20) and Shivji Mahato, all residents of Babu Pur, Sahibganj, Jharkhand. The value of the phones is said to be in several lakhs.

Sikand said acting on a tip-off, the police nabbed the accused at a naka near Bhatia. They were on the way to sell the stolen mobile phones to their clients.

The ADCP said the accused had especially come to Ludhiana from Jharkhand to commit loot and thefts. In the recent past, the gang committed dozens of crimes in the city. Recently, they had stolen three mobile phones from Dasehra Ground at Daresi.

3 mobile thieves nabbed

The Sadar police nabbed three thieves and recovered 12 mobile phones from them. Additional DCP Surindra Lamba said the thieves were nabbed from the Phullawal area where they were planning a burglary. They have been identified as Soni Yadav of Shimlapuri, Sanju Soni of Dashmesh Nagar and Saiky Khan of Lohara. 

Snatcher involved in 20 cases lands in police net

The Daba police arrested a snatcher and recovered 11 stolen mobile phones from them. Assistant Commissioner of Police Jaswinder Singh said the snatcher, along with the members of his gang, had committed 20 snatchings in the city. The arrested accused has been identified as Binderpal Singh of Morh Colony. Three of his accomplices, who are still at large, have been identified as Pawan Singh of Barota Road, Giani and Golu of Daba.
