Seven days after a theft was reported from a godown at Hallo Majra, the UT police have arrested three thieves, including a former employee of the godwon.
The theft was reported on February 5. Complainant Ashok Bhumea had reported that 25 cans (35 kg each) containing formic acid and five bags (50 kg each) of caustic soda were stolen from the godown situated at Deep Complex, Hallo Majra. A case in this regard was registered at the Sector 31 police station.
An investigation was initiated after which a team, led by Inspector Rajdeep Singh, SHO of the Sector 31 police station, nabbed the suspects, Sonu Singh (28), a resident of Colony No. 4, who had earlier worked at the godown and is at present working as a waiter, Ravi Kumar (28), a resident of the Industrial Area, Phase I, who is a daily wager, and Jatinder Kumar (28), a resident of Sanjay Colony, Industrial Area, Phase I, a driver.
The police said Sonu had planned the burglary after which the trio entered the godown by breaking the locks and escaped with the goods.
The police said the suspects took the stolen items in a Bolero pick-up.
“The stolen goods and the Bolero pick-up have been recovered from the suspects,” said a police official.
