Ludhiana, February 15
Three gang-rape case accused, who were arrested by the Ludhiana rural police, were today remanded in judicial custody by the court, as the police did not seek their police remand. The identification parade of the accused was to be done in the jail.
Tarun Rattan, SP Investigation, Ludhiana Rural, said the three accused sent to judicial custody were Ajay, alias Lalan of Tibba; Saif Alia of Tibba and a student of plus one. The three other accused nabbed earlier, Sadiq Ali, Jagroop Singh and Surmu, are still under police remand.
The SP said the accused were sent to jail for 14 days, following which they would be brought on production warrant for questioning. “Although we have arrested six accused, our investigation is still open in the case. If the role of any other person comes to the fore in further probe, then action will be taken accordingly,” added the SP.
