Palwal, April 17

The district election authorities have decided to install CCTV cameras at all 299 hypersensitive polling stations in the district for the video coverage of the polling process. Palwal has 685 polling stations and three Assembly seats falling in the Faridabad Lok Sabha segment.

Stating this, Mani Ram Sharma, DC-cum-district election officer, said while the installation of CCTV cameras or videography was proposed at the 299 hypersensitive polling stations, a close watch through micro-observers had been proposed for the 147 sensitive ones. A report on all polling stations where videography would be conducted was expected to be ready within a week, he said.

Of the total polling stations, 543 booths are located in rural areas. The Palwal, Hathin and Hodal Assembly segments form part of the Faridabad Lok Sabha segment and have 5,89,254 voters.

“Election officials have sought additional police force to ensure law and order during the Lok Sabha election slated to be held in the state on May 12. The administration has requisitioned about 1,000 cops for the election work, which include five paramilitary companiess,” said an official of the district administration.
