27-yr-old ‘murdered’ at Bucho Kalan village

A-27-year-old man was allegedly murdered at Bucho Kalan village here on Saturday night. The deceased has been identified as Mandeep Singh. According to information, he was accused in several cases.

Talking to the mediapersons, deceased’s uncle Harjit Singh said Mandeep was murdered on Saturday night by his friend and his associates.

He said the accused had attacked Mandeep with a sharp-edged weapon as deep cuts were found on the head, hands and other parts of the body.

He said the incident took place around 11.30 pm at Mandeep’s house. Harjit added that the accused also tried to kill his mother and daughter, but at the same time, his wife went out and started shouting. He said thereafter, the accused fled from the spot.

Palwinderjit Kaur, SHO, Cantt police station, said, “A case has been registered against deceased’ friend Gurdeep Singh and his some associates on a charge of murder on the statement of the deceased’s mother.”

She said a preliminary investigation reveled that Mandeep and Gurdeep were at the former’s house on Saturday night and suddenly, they had a quarrel over some issue, leaving to the death of Mandeep.

The SHO said the reason for the murder would be ascertained after the completion of the probe.

Relatives of the deceased also staged a protest in the village. Latter, they shifted the protest to the Bathinda-Chandigarh highway.
