20 emigration companies to offer jobs overseas: DC

JALANDHAR: Deputy Commissioner (DC), Jalandhar, Varinder Kumar Sharma today said around 20 emigration companies would offer jobs overseas to youth eligible for employment during the upcoming mega job fairs on February 15 and 21 at the CT Institute and DAVIET, respectively.

Deputy Commissioner (DC), Jalandhar, Varinder Kumar Sharma today said around 20 emigration companies would offer jobs overseas to youth eligible for employment during the upcoming mega job fairs on February 15 and 21 at the CT Institute and DAVIET, respectively.

Presiding over a meeting to review the arrangements for the event here at his office, the DC said besides offering job opportunities to unemployed youth overseas, the companies would also select them for jobs available in the district.

He said likewise, the companies would also accord career guidance to youth for better job opportunities abroad.

Exhorting students to avail benefits of the job fairs, the Deputy Commissioner said these job camps, organised by the state government under ‘Ghar-Ghar Rozgar’ scheme’ would open new vistas of employment for the youth of the district.

He said this was a noble initiative by the state government led by the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to provide jobs to every youth at their doorstep. The DC said in a first of its kind initiative, the industrial giants were visit campuses of colleges to select youth for jobs.

The Deputy Commissioner said while on February 15 the job fair would be held on the Shahpur campus of the CT Institute, the DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology would hold the camp on February 21.

He said the job fair would open a number of avenues for the youth to be gainfully employed. He said the companies would select students as per the needs and qualifications of the students.

Sharma said it would serve two purposes of providing jobs to the needy youth of the district on the one hand and providing skilled manpower to cope up with the needs of the local industry on the other.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal and Assistant Commissioner Himanshu Jain were also present.
