Additional Session Judge Parminder Kaur has sentenced two persons — Manoj Bukhara of Pugthala village and Ashish of Ratan Garh village in the district — to 14 years of imprisonment in a carjacking case.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs1.2 lakh each on the convicts. Of the total amount, Rs1.6 lakh would be paid to the victim. If the convicts failed to pay the amount, they would have to undergo additional imprisonment for six months.
Ranjit Kumar of Bihar had lodged a complaint with the police stating he was robbed of his car when he, along with his wife and two children, were on their way to HP.
The incident took place in the wee hours of April 9, 2017. A case was registered against unidentified persons at the Murthal police station. The miscreants were arrested after a few days. — OC
