Ludhiana, February 9
A health team today raided a de-addiction centre at Alamgir village. The team sealed the centre and rescued its inmates after it found violation of norms.
The team comprising Dr Mohinder Singh, Deputy Medical Commissioner of Ludhiana; Dr JP Singh, Senior Medical Officer of Sahnewal; Dr Vivek Goyal, Psychiatrist at Civil Hospital of Ludhiana; Harpal Singh, Tehsildar, and police officials raided the illegal rehabilitation centre.
During the raid, 18 inmates were rescued and the centre was closed down by the team for violation of norms, said the Civil Surgeon of Ludhiana, Dr Parwinder Pal Singh Sidhu.
The owner of the centre is Bhupinder Singh who runs Baba Buddha Nasha Mukti Vidyala, near the historical Gurdwara Manji Sahib at Alamgir village.
The team of the Health Department shifted the inmates rescued from the centre to the de-addiction centre at Lord Mahavira Civil Hospital, Ludhiana.
Violation of norms
During the raid, 18 inmates were rescued the raiding team and the centre was closed down for violation of norms, said the Civil Surgeon of Ludhiana, Dr Parwinder Pal Singh Sidhu.
