There has been no let-up in stubble burning incidents in Fatehabad district, which has recorded the highest number of farm fires so far. As per data compiled by ISRO’s geo-portal app Bhuvan, 126 active fire locations (AFLs) were detected in the district today.

Sources say the district administration has intensified monitoring as Fatehabad which is leading district of incidents of farm fires in the state. Deputy Commissioner Dhirender Khadgata said 173 FIRs had been lodged in connection with farm fires at 224 locations.

“The district administration is monitoring the fields. It detected 772 fire locations till Monday. Of them, fire at 224 locations was not related to stubble burning,” he said.

Stubble burning incidents were fewer in Hisar district as 20 AFLs were detected on Tuesday. Jind recorded 73 AFLs, Karnal 45 and Kaithal 44. The Bhuvan detected 33 AFLs in Sirsa district, which has recorded comparatively fewer number of fire incidents so far. Officials say stubble burning incidents could rise in Fatehabad and Sirsa districts as the harvesting season is delayed in this region as compared with northern districts of Karnal, Kaithal and Kurukshetra.
