151 boxes of liquor seized

A team of the CIA Staff-II has recovered 151 boxes (1,812 bottles) of liquor from a room situated in fields at Gill Patti village. The liquor was of a Haryana brand.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr Nanak Singh said a team of the CIA Staff-II had received a tip-off that Gurtej Singh, alias, Patwari, and his son Paljinder Singh Ral were bringing liquor at low rates from Haryana without any permit and were selling it here. The SSP said the accused had placed the illegal liquor inside a room near a tubewell in their fields.

The SSP said after checking the room, 151 boxes of liquor (1,812 bottles) were recovered. A case under Sections 61/1/14 of the Excise Act has been registered against the accused at the Thermal police station.

The police said though the accused were at large, efforts were on to nab them.
