Lucknow, February 13
The Aligarh district administration suspended internet services in the city for 24 hours to prevent the spread of rumours on social media.
On a complaint by BJP leader Mukesh Lodhi, cases have been filed against 15 Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) students on charges of sedition and many other serious sections of the IPC. According to the complaint, the students had raised anti-national slogans.
Cases have been filed against AMU students’ union chief Salman Imtiaz, secretary Huzaifa Amir, vice-president Hamza Sufiyaan and former students’ union secretary Nadeem Ansari. Aligarh SSP Akash Kulhary said posters of the wanted students were being pasted and non-bailable warrants dispatched to their homes. — TNS
