140 parks set to be renovated

Parks in the city are set to get a new look and facelift as the Municipal Corporation of Bathinda (MCB) has planned to renovate 140 parks at a cost of Rs 2 crore in the city.

The maintenance of these parks is in the hands of the MCB and most of these parks are maintained by the resident welfare associations or societies are maintaining. There are a few parks as well which have not been maintained and repaired for a long time.

The MCB has identified a few parks for their uplift and beautification. Some share of funds for the parks will be given by the MCB, while some funds would be given under the Amrut scheme and by Finance Minister Manpreet Badal.

MCB officials have already prepared an estimate for this project and soon work would be initiated after calling the tenders. Apart from this, the MCB has also given its nod to install an open gym in three parks in the city.

The MCB has taken approval of the House for Rs 35 lakh to be spent on the maintenance and labour for the renovation of parks in the city and Rs 21.24 lakh for the new plantation and maintenance of the plantation already done along roads.

The MCB has prepared an estimate of Rs 7.33 lakh for laying interlocking tiles and constructing the boundary wall in the park in Zone No. 8. Similarly, Rs 2.64 lakh would be spent on park number 14 in Model Town phase 1 and Rs 2.5 lakh would be spent in the park located in Ward No. 22.

Apart from this, the MCB would spend Rs 10.24 lakh on park numbers 11, 12, 21, 22 and 23 located in the Model Town area in the city, whereas LED top post lights would be installed in the Rose Garden at a cost of Rs 6 lakh.

The MCB would spend Rs 5.56 lakh on park numbers 7 and 17 in Model Town phase 1 and Rs 7.35 lakh would be spent on park numbers 18 and 35 located in Model Town phase 2 and renovation and repair of park number 15 located in Model Town phase 1 has also been included in this.
