In the second major surprise inspection of government offices in a week, 10 absentee employees have been suspended.

Seven contractual employees were also found to be on unauthorised absence and have been asked to explain their positions before any action, including termination of the contracts, is taken against them.

On May 10, Deputy Commissioner MA Asad had conducted a surprise inspection at the government medical college and associated hospital (district hospital) and had stopped salary of nine doctors for unauthorised absence. He had also sought an explanation from them.

“On Thursday, 47 government offices/ institutions were inspected by senior officers, including Additional Deputy Commissioner Sher Singh and sub divisional magistrates (SDMs),” said Narinder Raina, district information officer (DIO).

Inspections were conducted on the directions of DC MA Asad to review the status of facilities available for the people and punctuality among the government employees, the DIO stated.

Out of the 478 officials posted in these offices, 17 were absent from duty, 50 were on leave and four were shown to be on deputation.

Suspended employees include Anil Kumar (PDD), Piyush Sharma (PHE), Nikhil Sharma and Shabeer Ahmed (CEO’s office), Mohd Shafi Wani and Mohd Naseer (fisheries), Shamim Akhter, Mohd Naseem and Maqbool Ahmed (health) and Shabir Ahmed (animal husbandry).

“Heads of all the institutions have been asked to maintain up-to-date leave accounts of the employees and ensure proper attendance records. No laxity will be allowed in the maintenance of proper discipline and punctuality in the offices,” the DC said.
