1 held with 72 bottles of illegal liquor

BATHINDA: The Talwandi Sabo police have seized 72 bottles of illegal liquor and arrested one person near Singo village. The accused has been identified as 62-year-old Roop Singh, who is a resident of Chala wali village. The accused was nabbed during checking at a checkpost.

The Talwandi Sabo police have seized 72 bottles of illegal liquor and arrested one person near Singo village.

The accused has been identified as 62-year-old Roop Singh, who is a resident of Chala wali village. The accused was nabbed during checking at a checkpost.

According to the police, on Saturday afternoon, the accused was coming from the Lehri village side who had tied three cartons of liquor bottles on the motorcycle and was driving slowly.

The police said on reaching near the checkpost, the accused saw the police and tried to turn his vehicle back on the same road. As he turned back his bike stopped all of sudden. Police personnel then ran towards him and nabbed him. Upon checking the cartons, 72 bottles of a Haryana-based liquor brand were recovered from his possession. Balwant Singh, head constable at the Talwandi Sabo police station, said, “We have arrested the accused and registered a case under Sections 61, 1 and 14 under the Excise Act against him.”
