A total of 1,970 farmers from Ajnala sub-division, who owed around Rs 15 crore to cooperative banks and societies, were given loan waiver certificates by MLA Harpartap Singh Ajnala.

The MLA said the benefit was being given to farmers owing land more than two and a half acre but less than five acre. Ajnala said farm loans amounting to Rs 20 crore from subdivision were waived off in the first phase earlier.

He said that if any deserving farmer had not been able to get the benefit, he should contact SDM, Cooperative Department.
