1,500 given job letters at fair

As many as 1,500 candidates were given job letters on the first day of a two-day mega job fair organised by the Department of Employment at Government Postgraduate (PG) College, Sector 14, here on Sunday.

District Employment Officer Neeraj Jindal said a total of 5,100 job aspirants visited the camp on Day 1.

SDM-cum-fair nodal officer Narinder Malik said 67 companies had set up their stalls. The closing ceremony on Monday would be presided over by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

Minister of State for Labour and Employment Nayab Singh Saini, who earlier inaugurated the camp, said 12 such fairs were being organised across the state to provide jobs to nearly 25,000 youths.

He said 55,000 youths had been given employment so far. The minister said Haryana was the first state in the country to start the educated youth allowance and the honorarium scheme.
